What is a successful movie? We can say that a successful movie is when you do not think that it is a movie; furthermore, this movie must have certain features, so people can say that it is a good movie, and then the movie is going to succeed. But not just is the story or the production makes a successful movie. It must have great teamwork in the pre-production, production, and post-production. A success movie has to have a good director, actors, and non-story arc.
First of all, having a good director is the first characteristic. The work that a good director can develop is extraordinary. He can help the movie’s success because he is the person who personalizes the movie. All the directors have a different form to make movies. If the director has a good record in the movies, he will make a successful movie. For me, directors are the most important person because if you have a great script, but the director is not the best, the movie will be a failure. A good director can use a bad script and turn it into a successful movie. A good director guarantees you a good movie.
In addition, the actors have the responsibility of making the movie a reality. When you do not like the movie is because you do not like the performance of the actor. The actors have to develop good acting, so the movie can be more real. When the actors and the audience make a connection, the movie will be successful. Furthermore, the actor also personalizes the movie he or she has the responsibility to put a face in the movie. Without the actor, the movies would not exist. The actors are the cover of a movie.
Finally, having a non-story arc will make people interested. People say that all the stories have to follow the rule of the story arc. According to Darcy Pattison (2013), “A narrative arc is a necessary part of fiction and is often a key component of nonfiction, especially narrative nonfiction. The arc indicates that there is some sort of progression” (para. 1). She is saying that is important to have one because it will help you in the organization of your narration. Pattison also says that if you follow a story arc, your story will have coherence and cohesion. People will understand it more. This is not true a lot of movies that do not follow the story arc are more successful than the others. This is because people do not want to watch a different movie with same story arc. Is the same as a character arc, K.M. Weiland (2014) states “Is It Possible to Write a Story with No Character Arc? In a word: yes. Possible. This is fiction after all. Anything’s possible!” (para. 3). So, your movie does not have to have a story arc. For example, there are some movies of Quentin Tarantino where the story is different than others; it is not the same. The story arc is not necessary for a movie because is a cliché.
In conclusion, a movie has to possess a good direction, a perfect acting, and a non-structure story, so it can be successful. A successful movie is made with the perfect work of all the people. If the movies are always the same people will not be interesting to watch that movies, and for a consequence, it will be unsuccessful. Movies that make different things are the most successful movies. People are tired of cliché movies. If a movie is different people would like it. A successful movie is a hard and original work of all the people that are working on it.
